What do I have to do if I want to ride a motorcycle? |
|
Okay, before you learn to ride any motorcycle, you must have a valid learner’s permit. A learner’s permit allows you to ride a motorcycle of the specified class. The minimum age at which a person can obtain a learner’s permit is 16 yrs of age (only for R-N class moped). To eligible for a permit to ride a motorcycle not greater than a 250cc (R-E class) the minimum age is 17 yrs. To be eligible to ride a motorcycle greater than 250cc (open class, any motorcycle) you must held your R-E class for a minimum of one year. Once you have obtained your learner’s permit, you must ride a motorcycle within the same engine capacity range as the class you are applying for. This permit can be obtained at any licensing centre in Western Australia (listed below). A fee will be charged when making an application for a permit. The permit is then valid for 12 months and can be renewed free of charge. You will be asked a series of questions on the road rules and some specific questions relating to motorcycles. Once you have obtained your learner’s permit, you must ride a motorcycle within the same engine capacity range as the class you are applying for. |
